Create the soundtrack to your storybook adventure with the Lore Stereo Reverse Soundscape Generator, or let your storybook adventure grow with the Fable Granular Soundscape Generator. All of it in stereo, with MIDI, expression and savable presets.
Two paths into evolving soundscapes
Made up of five different modes, Lore MKII is a stereo ambient creation machine built around reverse delay, reverse reverbs and pitch shifting. Featuring multiple DSP algorithms running in series, with complex nested feedback paths, Lore takes you on an adventurous journey rich with themes of reversing, time-stretching, pitch-shifting and vast ambiance.
Each mode pairs two effects that feed into each other through separate feedback paths, so the sound keeps developing instead of repeating. Discover reversed swells, octave shimmer, sustained pads and pitch delays that sit somewhere between a sequencer and a harmonizer.
Fable MKII is a stereo ambient creation machine built around delay and granular processing. Five modes, each one pairing two effects that feed into each other through separate feedback paths, create long reversed textures, bright double-speed cascades, glitchy clouds and randomized pitch scattering.
Fable generates its wonder with a dual feedback path developed by DSP engineers at Walrus Audio. Your signal runs through two separate effects in series, independently controlled by the Feedback and Regen knobs. Artists will discover unique soundscapes ranging from smooth, flowing ambiance to bizarre, organic reverberance and chaotic, glitchy swarms.
Granular is a digital processing technique of micro-sampling, wherein short samples called grains are read from a delay buffer. They can be played at double or half speed for pitch-shift and time-stretching effects, played in reverse, read from multiple positions and more. Fable’s five streamlined modes explore different aspects of this sonic range.
Five modes in each pedal
Lore’s modes combine reverse delay with reverse, octave-up or octave-down reverb; reverse reverb with forward reverb; and pitch delay with pitch delay. From expansive, airy ambiance to thick, murky textures and intricate harmonic patterns, each pairing opens up a different soundscape.
Fable’s modes combine reverse delay with reverse granular processing; forward delay with octave-up granular processing; analog-style delay with octave-down granular processing; two multi-tap granular algorithms in its Grain-Verb mode; and forward delay with randomized pitch granular processing.
Stereo space and expressive control
Both pedals feature two inputs and two outputs for full stereo or mono-in/stereo-out operation. Stereo Width control sets how far the wet signal spreads between the left and right channels. Keep it narrow to stay focused, or open it all the way up and let the ambiance wrap around you.
The Tweak button and knob provide access to five parameters: Width, Mod Rate, Mod Shape, Shift and Ramp. Modulation rate is adjustable from 0.1 Hz to 5 Hz, with sine, square and random LFO shapes.
Holding down the tap tempo switch activates the momentary Dive / Rise feature, shifting the pedal’s clock rate down or up for as long as the switch is pressed. Shift sets the target, while Ramp controls how long it takes to get there—from a near-instant jump to a long, seasick glide.
Presets, MIDI and expression
Save and recall three presets right on each pedal, plus a live mode for when you just want to turn knobs. Access 127 presets via MIDI, with expression assignments saved with each preset.
MIDI clock synchronisation and MIDI CC control cover every knob, mode selection, bypass and tap tempo. Any knob can also be assigned to the expression input, or the jack can be configured for external tap tempo.
Selectable Trails and No Trails bypass modes let effects decay naturally when the pedal is switched off, or cut them off abruptly. Both pedals ship in Trails mode.
Built on Walrus Audio’s MDSP platform
Lore MKII and Fable MKII use Walrus Audio’s proprietary digital processing platform, MDSP, developed in-house for clear, detailed sound and the processing power needed for complex effects.
Designed and assembled in the USA, both models are available in Regular and Minimal finishes: green for Lore, gray for Fable, or a clean Black finish for either pedal, with artwork by Niall Grant.
