The VL 6500 wash fixture is a fully loaded wash fixture. It has a full CMY color mixing system and is a big stage impact moving head that allows the diffusion of the beam from 6 degrees to

30 degrees. Product manager Martin Palmer states in an interview ‘The design merges the VL 6000 beam power with the VL 5 dichroic fusion front lens system that allows that specific look when you come back off the camera at the fixture it looks just so different. It's a view that nobody else has in their lights. Such a set piece as well as a functional light for a wash’

The dichroic fusion system in this fixture is really a part of Vari-Lite’s history, even a part of the history of the entertainment industry. The VL 5 look that everybody aspires to this fixture was born out of direct feedback from the light designers. According to user experience Martin Palmer claims ‘They liked the VL 6000 beam but they wanted a wash to go with it.’ The VL 6500 shares its looks with the VL 6000 but has a full color mixing system, which the VL 6000 beam doesn’t have.

Putting the fixtures side-by-side and actually have them produce exactly the same color can be done in a really simple way. Lighting designers don’t have to color mix every single channel of this light, they can go to a preset channel and match a beam in the wash seamlessly the whole look. All of this results in a product you have to experience first hand!
