FACE PRO

When a production reaches the scale and reputation of Night of the Proms, there is no room for uncertainty. Every second of the live performance, every change in lighting, audio, and video has to run flawlessly. Reliable communication and connections are absolutely essential.
PRG strengthens its network infrastructure with full Luminex integration

PRG therefore decided to renew its AV network and introduce a fully Luminex-based network architecture. This is a strategic step forward that aims to set the standard for future productions.

The decision to transition entirely to Luminex came from the understanding that modern live shows require an integrated ecosystem that is both powerful and easy to manage. Within PRG, there had already been a strong focus on simplifying workflows while increasing stability and quality. Luminex fits that vision perfectly: technology designed specifically for the challenges of the audiovisual world. PRG is now opting not only for the GigaCore network switches, but also fully committing to the LumiNode and LumiCore.

Night of the Proms 2025 is the first major production in which the system will be deployed in full.
Ruben Simons, Project Manager for this project, shaped the infrastructure on-site. Together with the PRG crew, Klaas Mellebeek (OSM), Thijs Verplaetse (Lighting Systems Engineer), Cédric Stroobants (Audio Systems Engineer), and Loïc Castel (Wireless Systems Engineer), he set up the new network environment.

The new infrastructure was implemented across all disciplines:

  • Audio, with its high demands for stability and low latency
  • Lighting, with its complex data flows
  • Intercom, where reliability is essential
  • Video, where bandwidth and timing are critical

The Bolero intercom system ran on a dedicated setup consisting of one GigaCore 30i and two GigaCore 20t units. In addition, two more GigaCore 30i switches were deployed for the entire video infrastructure.

For a production like Night of the Proms, where preparations are intensive and live moments leave no room for error, this setup offers unparalleled reliability. The team can fully focus on the creative process while the technology operates seamlessly in the background as a silent force. Thanks to the Araneo software, they also maintain complete oversight of the network and all connected components.

The strength of Luminex lies not only in its hardware, but also in the peace of mind it brings to the workflow. The system is designed specifically for AV networks, making configurations intuitive, monitoring clear, and adjustments easy to implement - without requiring you to be an IT network specialist.
